My trial gave more pain relief than my perm implant has. I’ve had chronic pain and have used opioids for years, and still on them a year post op. The last thing you’re going to want is to be sitting on the toilet straining. And make sure you (at least) have stool softeners. My strongest advice is take the meds and stay on top of the pain. I have heard the paddles are a tougher recovery due to needing a laminectomy to get/keep it in place. Luckily the pain lessened quite a bit after 3 or 4 days. My surgeon prescribed the stronger hydrocodone tabs, which helped immensely. I have a fairly high pain tolerance, and I have to say the first few days were rough. Heya, not sure how relatable my situation is, as I have a Nevro HNX implant with wire leads.
